The problem
The ocean doesn't need another piece of plastic.
Every year, millions of tonnes of plastic enter our oceans and waterways. Bottles, bags, fishing line, packaging — much of it dropped far from the sea, carried there by rivers, streams and storm drains.
A widely cited World Economic Forum / Ellen MacArthur Foundation report projected that, on current trends, the ocean could contain more plastic than fish by weight by 2050. It is a projection, not a certainty — and it is exactly the kind of future that action today can change.
The problem is global. The action can start ten metres from your front door.

Why "Moana"?
Our name comes from the ocean.
In te reo Māori, moana means the sea — the ocean, a large lake, the waters that sustain Pacific life. It's the thing we protect, and the responsibility we share.
